WHAT WAS COP21?
COP21 was the 21st annual meeting, where countries from around the world participated in deciding the next steps in the fight against climate change.
THE SUMMIT
France hosted the 21st United Nations Conference on Climate Change, from 30th November to 11th December 2015 in Paris and Le Bourget.
THE CHALLENGE
COP21 aimed to lead a new international and global agreement to limit global warming to below 2° C.
The conference also looked to help countries adapt to the climate change consequences.
NISSAN SPEARHEAD SMART CITIES EVOLUTION
As a leader in e-Mobility, Nissan is dedicated to developing technology and implementing strategy that will minimise the carbon footprint of its vehicles.
With Nissan's commitment, smart cities are becoming a reality.
ZERO EMISSIONS
As a leader in 100% electric mobility, Nissan is committed to future generations by reducing its vehicles' CO2 emissions and expanding its 100% electric range of vehicles that emit no CO2 on the road.*
* No CO2 or regulated air pollutants emitted while driving in accordance with the NEDC.
EV battery
Nissan is continually researching and working to make their EV battery as advanced and efficient as possible. The new 3rd generation 30kWh battery with chemistry improvement and greater power provision has recently started production for the LEAF, while Nissan is also launching a new 'Second Life' battery recycling subsidiary.
RAPID CHARGE NETWORK
Launched in October 2013 in England and Ireland, the Rapid Charge Network contributes to the European Union’s objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 60%. This pilot network of rapid charging points covers the main routes in both countries, supplying electricity to electric vehicles.
EV charging stations
As leaders in charging infrastructure, Nissan have more than 2300 quick charge stations in Europe, with this number predicted to reach 5500 by 2020. Nissan are committed to making sustainable driving as accessible as possible and are using a collaborative partnership approach with innovative companies.
Vehicle to grid
Nissan is piloting the effectiveness of the vehicle to grid system (V2G) in different European cities, before a large, concrete deployment all across Europe. As well as accessing renewable energy, drivers can connect their electric vehicles to the grid during cheap-tariff periods, and can use the electricity stored in the vehicle's battery either at home, while driving, or even for selling back to the grid.
Fuel station of the future
By 2020, the roads will be home to almost one million electric vehicles. As leaders in electric design, Nissan are well-placed to prepare for this future transport evolution. They are collaborating with world-renowned architects with the aim of transforming the refuelling infrastructure into a sustainable, innovative center for modern drivers.
Air Quality
Air pollution is rapidly becoming a major problem, in particular in large cities. In response, e-mobility is the necessary, positive transport solution to countering these challenges. As EV leaders, Nissan are committed to pursuing this reliable, zero emission alternative.
